About Me.
Welcome to Shootnokill, a visual narrative crafted by Ömür Özonur Kancoğlu.
My journey is a unique blend of corporate precision and creative exploration. For many years, I served as the Planning Manager, Operations Manager, Planning Specialist at Manufacturing, Pharmaceutical Warehouse and Defense Industries in Turkey. These roles instilled in me discipline, a deep appreciation for structural integrity, strategic composition, and the fine balance between form and function.
Born and raised in Ankara, Turkey, I developed my technical foundation at the prestigious Association of Ankara Photo Artists (AFSAD). My education through AFSAD and various photography collectives provided me with a rigorous discipline in both classical and modern techniques. In November 2024, I brought this lifelong passion to Connecticut, USA, where I continue to document the dialogue between the lens and the living world.
The name Shootnokill represents a fundamental ethical stance: to capture the profound essence of a moment without disturbing its natural state. I am drawn to extraordinary compositions—frames that challenge the conventional and find beauty in the unexpected. Whether it is the intricate geometry of a macro flower, the candid pulse of street life, the narrative depth of documentary photography, a dance event or studio or outdoor portraits of people, my goal is to reveal the unseen.
My work is a blend of classical discipline, analytical planning and artistic intuition. I specialize in:
-
Fine Art & Abstract: Utilizing ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) and Long Exposure to transform landscapes into painterly, ethereal abstractions and to show spiritual moods of people in a single shot.
-
Portraits: in front of my home studio equipment and outside
-
Macro & Botanical: Uncovering the hidden geometry of the natural world.
-
Street & Documentary: Capturing the authentic pulse of human life and urban environments.
-
Events like dancing, theater.
-
Post-Processing Mastery: Leveraging advanced Photoshop skills to refine the mood of every frame while preserving the soul of the subject.
Through Shootnokill, I invite you to see the world through a lens of respect, precision, and curiosity. Here, the only thing taken is a photograph; the only thing left behind is an enduring story.
